Though hundreds of miles apart, the places listed above belong together as components of a distinct regional identity. Aboriginal Americans live in the same area as their ancestors in greater numbers here than anywhere else in the United States, and the blend of Hispanic, Anglo, and Pueblo Indian cultures creates a completely unique atmosphere.

Easily visible from the side of the highway, and just a few miles from the community of Abiquiu (Optional excursion on Northbound Tours), this iconic view of the Chama River will be familiar to fans of Georgia O'Keefe. The underlying prosperity of the very small and private town of Abiquiu is evident in the beautiful condition of St. Thomas The Apostle Parish Church.
